The Old Dominion Monarchs compete with the Georgia State Panthers in the fourth round of the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Championship in Pensacola Bay. The Old Dominion Monarchs held the fifth seed in the SBC. The Georgia State Panthers held an eighth seed in the SBC. 


Crystal Henderson scored 32 points, leading the Georgia State Panthers to a 4th Round Sun Belt Conference victory against the Monarchs in Pensacola Bay. The Monarch’s field goal percentage was 23.5 percent at the end of the first quarter. The Panthers’ field goal percentage was 22.2 percent. Crystal Henderson led the Panthers with 8 points in the first quarter and finished the game with 32 points and two rebounds. Crystal Henderson made 12 out of 16 shots from the field. Henderson shot 75 percent from the field. Mikyla Tolvert scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Tolvert shot 44 percent from the field.


In the second quarter, the Panthers slashed through the Monarchs' defense and scored 12 points in the paint. C. Henderson dribbled around the defenders and found her shot, occasionally making the assist. The Monarchs scored 14 points in the paint. The Monarchs' game plan was to get to the basket and get open shots in the paint. It happened, and they outscored the Panthers by two points. Unfortunately, they had two more turnovers in the second quarter than the Panthers. 


The Monarchs shot 27.8 percent in the third quarter. The Monarchs missed some clutch free throws to cut the lead down in the fourth quarter. Simaru Fields had a costly turnover. That possession changed the trajectory of the game. Georgia State Panthers will move on to play the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in the fifth round of the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Championship.
