Let's Talk About It

Communicating can be hard sometimes. I'm a Communication major and I have trouble expressing myself, but I've come to realize that there are multiple ways to communicate our feelings. One of those ways is writing or digital writing, which is a medium that gives people a chance to express themselves on paper, phone, tablet, or computer. Times have changed and we can get our thoughts out digitally, by typing in our notes and focusing on the thumbs moving freely across the keyboard of a phone. Which brings me to texting... I've had my fair share of communicating through text, and I would like to make it clear that text has no voice, you probably already knew that, but I wanted to say it again. It is simply words. Now, if someone puts some emojis and five exclamation marks behind their sentence. There's some emotion in there somewhere. Speaking from experience, writing sets my mind free and it calms me down. It helps my mental health. Now, let's talk about film. Film starts off as what? It starts off as a script, but to see it come alive on screen! Wow! To be able to see your vision come alive is a big accomplishment, and if you have a vision in your mind I encourage you to never give up on your vision.

Last but not least, let's talk about communicating amongst ourselves. Opinions can make it very difficult to get our point across to the other person. "It is highly possible that a person will listen with the intent to reply, and not listen with the intent to understand." Let me say that again, "it is highly possible that a person may listen with the intent to reply, and not listen with the intent to understand.", said Stephen Covey. You ever wondered why after a conversation or argument with someone you always think of everything you should of said, or what you shouldn't have said? It's because we may have played that conversation over and over in our head. Every time we have a conversation with someone we don't have to reply immediately. Regardless of how pushy a person may be to make you say something, take your time to listen, and read between the lines. I hope you have a blessed year. Blessings.
